Come take a walk with me

It is a love letter to all my favorite days this year so far.

I will get my chance
To give my pride a glance
And take a walk with you
— Warsaw by Martial Arts

Unexpectedly, caught myself in a moment of self-reflection — looking through photos I took, listening to Warsaw, collecting my thoughts. I often joke that, since I actually get to celebrate my day in October, I have a birthday week, the actual birthday, followed by a birthday month and… (…). I guess I just like to celebrate, and that's exactly what we're going to do — celebrate the little moments. (Casually being philosophical after not posting for nine months, hi y’all!)

13 March: at their very best

I visit Warszawa from time to time, I am still picking up a lot about this place but frankly, I had one of the best concerts of my life there. You can love or hate The 1975 or know some of their songs, but I just associate that day with having fun, dancing, finding joy in singing beloved lyrics out loud, planning the outfit, and being next to dear friends. To get along with the theme of my silly little blog…

Where to go in Warszawa/Warsaw, food places:

  • eter - vegan bakery & speciality coffee for the iconic pumpkin spice sweet bun I tried last autumn,

  • Niedaleko Damaszku among the most authentic falafel places I’ve ever been to,

  • Lokal Vegan Bistro to order a plant-based version of schabowy,

  • Vegestacja vegan ice cream (the Elvis Presley flavor with banana and peanut butter!).

If you have a bit more time to travel outside the city centre and are familiar with the art of Zdzislaw Beksinski, take a trip to Sonaty 6 street to see where he lived and created his famous paintings.

3 May: maple syrup, whipped cream, banana

I am most definitely obsessed with a few things in terms of food, the ones I recognize are:

  • espresso tonic,

  • balsamic vinegar chips,

  • pancakes.

After dedicating 1/4 of my life to eating pancakes, on 3 May, I finally decided the combination of maple syrup, whipped cream, and sliced banana is the best mix of toppings — and I am not even joking now, I kinda wish. I believe we should all have our favorite pancake toppings to enjoy with no regrets. So here I am, sharing my strong and confident opinions. Or perhaps it reminds me of a drink I used to make all the time: a glass of cold oat milk, a spoonful of peanut butter, 1 banana, and optionally, a shot of espresso. Put it in a blender, blend until smooth, and enjoy. Sharing is caring, so here’s also the recipe for the vegan pancakes I use most: by A Virtual Vegan

19 July: by the sea

Warm summer evenings, blurry beach pictures, and the prettiest old houses—Gdansk. You can’t go wrong planning a weekend by the Polish sea; after all, it’s so lovely to feel the sand beneath your feet while watching the waves come and go. On top of that, Gdansk offers many delicious vegan spots. Out of the 21 places I saved:

  • Avocado Vegan Bistro I love — love, krokiety they serve with the spinach filling,

  • Kawiarnia Publiczna to have your coffee in not so obvious area for tourists,

  • Restauracja Lekko Good Friends & Food really nice vegan pizza.

11 August: Me and the Moon

It’s a lovely night with the moon in the sky
— Me and the Moon by The Drums

Jubiläumswarte Johann-Staud-Straße 80, 1160 Wien, Austria - to witness the magic of stargazing

If you want to add a cinematic touch to your trip, follow in the footsteps of Before Sunrise in Vienna:

  • Alt & Neu Records record store with too many vinyls to even count,

  • Wiener Prater amusement park with fun, silly things to do when visiting,

  • Café Sperl cute place for breakfast,

  • Maria Theresien Platz large green public square facing museums.

The atmosphere of this film still lingers in the city, and it seems like it’s not going away anytime soon.

To all the other days and cool experiences I had—I think about you highly and dearly.

Just to add, before starting this blog post, I created a 6-song playlist that goes well with my days lately, with 'Warsaw' by Martial Arts as the opener, so maybe it’ll go well with yours too. You can find it on my Spotify account. It’s called 52.2297° N, 21.0122° E.
